Did I REALLY Look Like That?
(Last updated: 03 Dec 2006) I'm sure you must be aware at the increasing number of historical people who've turned up in this anime. But have you ever wondered what they looked like in real life - and how accurate their anime portrayal is? Of course, seeing that it's not meant to be some historical docudrama, one would expect the designer to take a few liberties here and there with some of the characters. Generally, though, Iroha's historical characters look reasonably similar to their real-life counterparts (with one or two obvious exceptions) (Click to enlarge | 602 x 722 px, 272 KB) Click here for an *even* larger version. (1200 x 1440 px, 644 KB) The picture will be updated periodically whenever a new historical character appears in the show. It's obvious that Nakaiya looks vastly different because, after all, he's mostly fictional here (the real Nakaiya never came back after 1861). All historical pictures were shamefully filched off the web, btw... If you are wondering where the Hijikata picture came from, it's from a scan of Newtype USA. Don't paste this in any place that links to the official website, if you don't mind. Anything else is OK. Edit it or reupload it as you please. Errors so far (that will be updated next time): 3rd Dec - thanks to Aniki Meiski I have found out that the show at first incorrectly put 有栖川宮熾仁 as Takahito (that is his father 幟仁's name) but corrected this in episode 6 to Taruhito. Also Hijikata technically appeared in episode 9 (it's a long shot though, and you can hardly see his face) so I guess I'll throw that in... Return to Miscellaneous Omake: What about the troupe's depiction of characters within the show? Just to put them all together so far... Na~nte ne. Return to Miscellaneous |
