Soutetsu cont.
Contains spoilers from episode 5 and 7, 8 and 10. Furthermore, he seems to know the truth behind Nakaiya and the Kamon-no-Kami, as his inclusion of their interaction in his new play about Kakunojou's past touches a nerve with Nakaiya, implying that it is probably close to the truth. He decides to go one step further by including Nakaiya's actual name inside the script for the last performance of said play. As of episode 5, it is certain that he is deeply interested in the Head, and sees it as necessary for his plans for Japan. --------- 7 It is very evident Soutetsu wants the Head for himself. He goes to the extent of obtaining a replica of a special pot used to carry the Head back during the Qing dynasty. Furthermore he meets up with the very Nakaiya whom he wrote into his play, which throws doubt onto whether he really wanted to help the troupe get their revenge. Does he just want to filch the Head from Nakaiya, though? ---- 8 Soutetsu sneaks into the Satsuma residence where Katsu Kaishuu and Saigou Takamori are negotiating - something he had prevented from happening earlier by stealing the letter. He brings in the special pot, and in an unused room he starts making a concoction in it. Eventually it starts producing smoke that envelops the whole residence, and at the very end Soutetsu sucks the spirit of the Head into the pot. When he appears in front of Nakaiya and the Troupe, he tells them that he has fulfilled his promise of helping them get their revenge. Having said that, he makes his escape and is chased by Akizuki, but manages to control the guardian spirits of the Head to fend him off. He then rows off in a boat.... who knows where he's going... --- 10 About a month has passed. Where's our resident scriptwriter? No longer with the troupe... It turns out Soutetsu is in Edo, for at the end he conveniently meets up with Oryou to pass her... a bunch of new scripts! Written by him... and this time he's writing about Akizuki, Nakaiya, and the legend of the Head? Oho. Return to Soutetsu |
